A new event concept fusing impactful visuals and neo-classical music
Little Lighting Guy provided lighting design and operation for the first ever Music in the Sky event at the Roundhouse, UNSW. We were tasked with bridging the gaps between the performance elements for this groundbreaking new show. Our lighting sculpted the performers and immersed the audience in a new world of storytelling.
The goal was to illustrate the 'sunset to sunrise' concept of the show, with lighting states reflecting and enhancing the atmosphere and colour of the video content including moonlight, pink clouds, and a golden sunrise. The key was subtlety - to lift, but not overpower the delicate neoclassical music or the video element, and to boost the atmosphere created by each composition.
Working within budget we maximised the potential of the house rig. However, for emphasis of key moments 8 Claypaky Xtylos fixtures were added (supplied by PRG). These provided an impressive additional layer of depth and shape to the stage.
